They will then scoop the ice from the machine into cups and drizzle the ice with flavored syrup to serve to your guests. When the event is over, leave the breakdown and removal of the cart to us. All we need is access to electricity and ice - we take care of the rest!

Hi Addam, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I don’t think I ever did. A lot of my success was driven by my insecurities. It was reflected in my work that I was trying harder, and did not take anything for granted. If I felt insecure or nervous about something, it showed that my feelings were real and genuine…and people see that. People can spot a phony!

But every journey begins with a step. We know that our clients aren't going to nose-dive back into large gatherings. We've had postponements and very few cancellations. Silver Linings

The past few weeks have certainly been a whirlwind, and it’s incredible seeing how brave our medical personnel and first responders have been. So many others have stepped up to the plate, from crafters making masks, to restaurants donating food to medical centers, to those who are offering to food shop for those who are older or at-risk. Everyone is doing their part, and while the illness and loss of life is incredibly tragic and should absolutely not be taken lightly, we can’t help but see the light in the dark period that we are currently in.

Pollution is down. Animals are coming out. But most importantly, families are together. We had to temporarily pivot from the event industry to offering a contactless Conrad’s experience that our clients can enjoy at home with their families. So many of our clients tagged us or sent us pictures of their families enjoying the treats that they made together, and each one of those pictures made us smile. We’d like to think that we have made our clients’ days a little brighter and given families a break from the craziness of the world. Whether we’re setting up ice cream and frozen drink machines for a wedding (which of course we’re unable to do right now), or delivering a Chocolate-Lovers Survival Kit during the Great Quarantine, Conrad’s always has the same goal: To bring loved ones together and help them make amazing memories. We can’t do much about the current situation, but we can make the best of it.

How NOT to look

A blog post ago I was talking essentially talking about paying for what you get.

For as long as we’ve been in business I never understood this. What looks like a seeming candid photo encompasses the very antithesis of professionalism.

We were working a chocolate fountain event a few days back. Upon arrival there was another company handling the photo booth and face painting. As I was working alongside the photo booth, I snapped these three shots over a 20 minute period.

You’re looking at two photo booth attendants that are sitting down, on their phone, have AirPods in and completely ignoring their customers. We blurred out the company name and faces to protect the vendor but please note this is NOT us! Now I’m not saying that any of these is a crime but I would NEVER allow my clients to see me or my workers in such a state of sloppiness and inattention. Again if you want to go on your phone or sit down when no one's around or at the start of the event go for it. We’re all human but it just goes to show the different level of unprofessionalism there is out there.

Always ask for references or check review before going with a vendor please!!

Do You Really Get What You Pay For?

Recently, I came across this meme. And, laughed out loud.

Such a clever summary in one picture. But, if you’ve ever worked with companies prior, you definitely should understand why I thought it was so cleverly hysterical.

At some point in your search for a company you're looking to hire, you’re going to demand their time and expect quick turnarounds. A common misconception is that clients anticipate that companies they speak with have nothing else to do or they aren't working with other clients that require just as much attention as you.

The kicker? They believe that the business is going to deliver the same quality work without having to pay as much as clients that value their time and effort in making their parties special.

I may be coming on a bit too strong here. But, let’s be honest. Rome wasn’t built in a day. If clients truly value the quality of the work, then they will respect the time put forth in making the proper accommodations for you. Not only will this benefit them, but it will also be an asset to you.

We've catered over 3700 events since our inception back in 2008. Along the way similar companies have come and gone. Sure you can price shop around, but is having someone play a vital role in a special occasion, like a wedding or corporate function something you really want to skimp out on? Sure you can go with the lowest bidder but ask yourself: is the company fully insured?Do their staff members look unkempt/unprofessional? Do they have experience in the area? Have they catered a variety of events before? Do they use professional grade equipment?

If you're hiring a company to handle the photo booth part of your event or event he dessert portion, odds are you're not going to hit a home run on a beer budget. At Conrad's Concessions we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and premium grade products. We understand the value of our work but do not overcharge.

While you should pay what you’re worth, it’s also important to value the quality of work you're receiving. And, one way to do that is by being respectful of your time. It’s just unreasonable to assume that you can complete a project overnight. That’s too short of a timeframe and it’s not like companies don't have anything else planned.

If you feel that this is the case, then you may want to consider dropping the company and move on to someone who will value your time as well as theirs. It’s probably just not worth the money and aggravation from the client's standpoint.

The beginnings of Conrad's Concessions

Conrad's Concessions was founded in 2008 by an ambitious college student, Addam Agderian. What started as a small side business has since grown to include a team of employees and a full suite of rental products and special event machinery. At the heart of our business are our fabulous chocolate fountains. We have a the largest selection of chocolate fountains in the tri-state area, including our cascading fountain - new for 2020!

We have had the privilege of servicing well over 3,400 events throughout the greater New York City metropolitan area since our beginnings a decade ago. Whether it’s an annual backyard get-together, a wedding, or a large corporate function, we take pride in creating fully custom rental packages and offering stellar customer service tailored to each client’s individual needs. We treat each and every event with an incredible level of care and we are happy to customize a package to meet your needs.
